Born in Portugal’s Douro Valley, Indício Wines is all about honesty and respect — for nature, for tradition, and for the local culture that has shaped this land for centuries. The project looks back to ancestral methods like field blends and foot-treading, then reimagines them with today’s knowledge and care. The result is wines that feel both timeless and contemporary.
Indício works almost entirely by hand and with minimal intervention. Grapes are harvested at just the right balance of ripeness, gently foot-crushed in open tanks, and left to ferment spontaneously. Old oak barrels provide subtle aging, never overpowering the fruit. Everything is done to let the vineyard speak for itself.
The wines are refreshingly different from the heavy stereotype of Douro. Reds are light, fresh, and elegant — low in alcohol yet full of depth. Whites are textured, layered, and expressive, often with golden or even amber tones from skin contact. And then there is Água-Pé, a traditional low-alcohol claret once made for vineyard workers, now revived as a vibrant, easy-drinking wine with deep cultural roots.
Indício is more than wine — it’s a commitment to preserving native grapes, protecting the Douro’s heritage, and keeping alive a way of winemaking that values purity, sustainability, and authenticity.
