No sulfites added
Sulphites - or SO2 - is a common addition to wine which acts as an antioxidant and antiseptic which helps to stabilise the wine before it is bottled.
Some (but not all) natural winemakers will not add any sulphites to their wine. However, sulphites do naturally occur in the winemaking process which is why even ‘no added sulphites’ wines will say ‘contains sulphites’ on the label.
No added sulphites doesn't mean the wine is unstable!
Yes, sulphites act as a stabiliser in wine. But that doesn’t mean that all no added sulphites wines are unstable or will “go bad” quickly - far from it.
There are thousands of no added sulphites wines out there that will last just as long as conventionally made wine both opened and unopened - some would argue longer. So long as winemaking practices are good (and importantly clean), your wines will last as long plenty long enough.
We adore our no added sulphites collection - in it you’ll find incredible examples of energy-filled, vibrant wines.
