Story
Radici e Filari means “roots and rows” which pretty much sums up this wine estate’s philosophy.
It’s all about the vineyards.
They are situated in the La Morra region of Piedmont and it’s strictly a family affair, with Emanuele at the helm and his father Renato helping out occasionally too.
The estate has been organic since the 1970s when Renato started the business. When Emanuele came on board, he moved towards biodynamics.
The result is beautifully pure expressions of Nebbiolo and Barbera that taste alive.
- philosophy
- Organic farming with biodynamic practices.
- All wines are made with spontaneous fermentation and bottled with very low sulphite additions.
- Temperature control is rarely used (other than opening the windows!).
- The estate want ‘light touch’ wines that see almost no manipulation and macerations are kept to a minimum. Wines are always unfined and unfiltered.
- The vineyards
- 8.5 hectares in La Morra and a further 2.5 hectares in Asti.
- Vine pruning is vigorous to promote air flow and reduce disease.
- Very old vines spanning back to 1945.
- Largely clay or chalky marl soils which are very common for the area.
