Juan Carlos Sancha's organic Grenache is grown high up in the hills of the Rioja Alta subregion. Peña el Gato is vinified in amphora which keeps this full-bodied wine fresh. Juan works with old vines so expect plenty of concentration in this red wine, as well as a silken palate and typical Grenache flavours including soft red fruits, pepper and even cloves.

WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE The wine is aged in amphora which means the fruit is very pure on the nose. Fresh red fruit aromas abound, as is so typically found in old vine Grenache.
STRUCTURE The wine is dense and silken, almost like velvet on the palate. Thanks to that density, the high acidity isn’t felt on the mouth but it is there in the background and gives precision to the wine. You’ll find plenty of spicy flavours on the palate including white pepper and cloves.
PAIRING Rare or medium rare beef would be perfect with this wine, especially if it’s cold outside. It is guaranteed to warm up your guests!
