Piedra Reserva 2014, Toro, Castilla y León
Piedra Reserva 2014, Toro, Castilla y León
A gorgeous, age-worthy red low intervention wine made with Tinta de Toro - or Tempranillo - grapes. There is a charming nose of wild strawberries and fresh raspberries along with some aged flavours of balsamic and roasted coffee. The wine is full bodied but still fresh and lively. It's seen some time in old oak barrels which shine through the fruit in vanilla and black pepper flavours.

- WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE A charming nose of wild strawberries and fresh raspberries that quickly turn into red prunes and cherries. There are also some balsamic and roasted coffee notes. A complex nose indeed.
- STRUCTURE The wine is full bodied but with fresh acidity, so common to the Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) grape variety. There is some oak influence that is shown in vanilla and black pepper flavours. Tannins are dense but integrated which makes it a perfect wine for ageing.
- PAIRING Go Spanish and pair with oven roasted Iberico pork. Add black garlic and cherries for a different (but awesome) pairing.
