Rioja has long been known for its excellent wines, but the region is only now reaching its full potential.

Most wine connoisseurs think they know Rioja all too well. Huge barriques, woody red wines and the illustrious names of the big wineries - that's exactly what La Rioja is all about. Or is it?

In fact, the region offers much more. This is demonstrated by the young, motivated and courageous winemakers who are breaking new ground.

Modern Riojas have little in common with the old-school wines. They are fruitier, have no oak notes and rely on lesser-known grape varieties. In addition, the new Riojas are mainly white. White wine currently only accounts for 5% of Rioja production.
