Story
Cristiano Guttarolo isn’t like most Pugliese producers.
For a start, his vines are on a limestone plateau 400 metres above sea level, far away from the plains that make up much of the Puglia wine region.
Second, he’s all about freshness. Finesse. Elegance. Words often unassociated with many Pugliese reds.
In the cellar, Cristiano all about working with nature as much as possible. No additives are used AT ALL because as Cristiano himself says, these are the sorts of wines he loves to drink.
And we love him for this.
- Philosophy
- Organic viticulture.
- Everything is done in the vineyard by hand.
- Minimal manipulation in the cellar - indigenous yeasts, no chemicals, no added sulphites
- The vineyards:
- Limestone plateau 400 metres above sea level
- Mainly Primitivo with a small amount of Sangiovese
- Lower daytime temperatures and a strong sea breeze lends freshness to the finished wines
