As with all of Emilio's wines, the Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes are organically and biodynamically grown in a small vineyard on the slopes of Mount Etna. 30% of the wine is aged in large oak barrels for around 18 months. This fabulous natural wine is fresh and lively with bright red fruit and black pepper flavours that will mellow with age. There is also a fantasic smokiness to the wine so often found in wines from Mount Etna.

WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE Bright red fruits abound with a spicy edge to the nose. Think strawberries, raspberries and black pepper.
STRUCTURE 30% of this wine has been aged in large oak casks for around 18 months which rounds out the texture. It’s fresh, but has complexity and structure that could see the bottle age nicely for a few years. All those red fruit flavours from the nose follow through on the palate, as does the smoky profile found in so many Etna grown wines.
PAIRING Steak with béarnaise sauce would stand up to the bottle and round out the wine’s tannins nicely.
