Veneto is a large region across the Northwest of Italy, home to famous names such as Prosecco, Valpolicella, and Soave. It’s a varied region, but generally, the whites tend to be fresh and zippy while the reds have a crunchy, red fruit quality. But it’s possible to find almost any style here.
The Veneto is famous for its simple jug-style wines that adorn almost every restaurant and home dinner table in the area. But things are changing here. Organic, biodynamic and natural wines that better express the varied soils and terroir of the region are becoming more commonplace, and we couldn’t be happier about that.
Many young winemakers are taking over their parents’ estates and crafting terroir-driven wines with exciting results. It’s a region to watch.
